Cause

Christina Lake’s existing rescue boat has served the community well but was adapted from a recreational vessel and lacks many of the essential capabilities of a modern fire/rescue vessel. As emergency service demands increase, community risks evolve, and wildfire threats continue to grow, a purpose-built vessel is needed to ensure responders can operate safely and effectively when lives, property, and community safety are at stake.

The proposed vessel will deliver significant improvements including:
• Response times from the boat moorage to the furthest location on the lake reduced from approximately 60 minutes to 18–20 minutes under operational load
• Enhanced patient transport and stretcher security
• Improved firefighter and responder safety
• Purpose-designed pumping and ventilation systems
• Safe and reliable low-visibility and nighttime operating capability
• Improved shoreline access and water rescue capability
• Increased support capacity for partner agencies including BCEHS, BC Wildfire Service, BC Parks, RCMP, and Search & Rescue

The estimated fully equipped vessel cost is approximately $250,000. All proceeds collected from the raffle after prize payout and expenses will be donated by the Christina Lake Rotary Club to the Christina Lake Firefighters Society for the purchase of the new vessel.
